Walker County (Alabama)

The Walker County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jasper.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern Alabama and has an area of ​​2086 square kilometers, of which 28 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Cullman County, Blount County, Jefferson County, Tuscaloosa County, Fayette County, Marion County and Winston County.

History

Walker County was formed on December 26, 1823. It was named after the U.S. senator John Williams Walker. District capital is Jasper, named after William Jasper, a hero during the American Revolution.
