Walking (film)

Walking is a Canadian animated short film by Ryan Larkin from the year 1969.

Action

The outline of a uniform running man with hands in pockets appear. Standing or sitting people at bus stops, in cars or cafes are to see and be replaced by other running people. Various drawing techniques are used for the identification of ongoing people who always cross the white ground. Leisurely below a man and running a child and a young woman is shown and everything is different from the movement of a group of barefoot boys or veiled women in long dresses. Other persons race, somersaults, or move in dancing forms continued, turning or falter in the barrel, then to move on faster. It follows a group of people of different ages and of different sizes, which crosses together the white surface. In the end, again, the outline of the uniform running man to see who is getting closer and fills the screen.

Production

Walking, French release title En marchant, was released in theaters on December 21, 1969. The film contains no dialogue. The different running styles are animated in different painting techniques, including water color and ink. Excerpts from walking were used for the semi- biographical animated film Ryan, who revolves around the life of Ryan Larkin and in 2005 was awarded an Oscar.

Awards

Walking was nominated in 1970 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against It's Tough to Be a Bird himself.
