Wallace Wattles
Wallace Delois Wattles (* 1860, † 1911) was an American writer in the New Thought movement. In particular, his 1910 published book The Science of Getting Rich ( " The Science of Getting Rich " ) gained new popularity in 2006 after Rhonda Byrne had called it in an interview as a source of inspiration for her film The Secret.
Wattles was born in 1860 shortly before the outbreak of the American Civil War, the son of a gardener and a homemaker. He initially worked as a farm laborer. During the Christmas season 1896 Wattles attended a meeting at which he was confronted with a kind of socialism Christian spirit at the age of 36 years. He began to write, and became one of the most important writers of the American New Thought Movement.
