Walliswil at Niederbipp is a municipality in the Oberaargau the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Geography
Walliswil at Niederbipp is located on 431 m above sea level. M., 3 km east of the district main town Wangen an der Aare and 13 km east-northeast of the town of Solothurn (air line). The farming village extends on the northern slope of the valley of the Aare River across from Walliswil bei Wangen, in Bipperamt the Upper Aargau.
The area of 1.4 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the northern Bernese Mittelland. The southern boundary is formed at a length of approximately 3 km the river Aare, which is sunk here in a valley. From the river to the communal land extends northward over the floodplain and the low terrace to the level of Längwaldes. This forest ridge formed during the Ice Age, the terminal moraine of the Rhone Glacier. On the Chällerrain that slopes with a steep slope to the river Aare, is 500 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Walliswil at Niederbipp. From the municipality surface 1997 18 % came from settlements, 19 % of forest and shrubs, 53% to agriculture and slightly more than 10% was unproductive land ( gravel pits ).

Population
With 218 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Walliswil heard at Niederbipp to the small municipalities of the canton of Bern. Of the residents 99.2 % are German, 0.4 % English speaking and 0.4 % speak Russian ( as of 2000). The population of Walliswil at Niederbipp amounted in 1850 to 204 residents in 1900 to 233 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated always in the range 170-240 people. Since 1990 (198 inhabitants), a slight increase in population was recorded.
Economy
Walliswil at Niederbipp was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and fruit growing and cattle breeding have a certain role in the occupational structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including a gravel and concrete and in a mechanical workshop. North of the village a large gravel pit is exploited. Walliswil at Niederbipp is the site of a nursing home. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns along the Jurasüdfusses between Solothurn and Olten, as well as in the region Langenthal - Herzogenbuchsee.
Traffic
The community is located off of the larger passage axes at a connecting road from Wangen an der Aare Aarwangen. The nearest links to the A1 ( Bern- Zurich ) is located approximately 3 km from the center. Walliswil at Niederbipp itself has no connection to the public transport network. The nearest bus stop is located in Walliswil in cheek, which is easily accessible by a pedestrian bridge over the River Aare.
History
The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1102 under the name Walaswiler, although it is not clear to which Walliswil it was here. Later, the names Walaswille ( 1324 ) published, Walaswile ( 1332 ), Walleswil ( 1347 ) and Walliswil ( 1427). The place name could be either from the Old High German word walah ( welsch, Romansh ) or have been derived from personal names Walacho. Accordingly, it is the homestead of the Walacho / the Italians.
Since the Middle Ages Walliswil under stood at the Niederbipp Landgraviate Buchsgau, which was administered by the Counts of Frohnburg. It was in the reign Bipp and since the beginning of the 14th century to the Official Erlinsburg that came to the Counts of Neuchâtel - Nidau 1332. In other Walliswil announced at Niederbipp the fate of the rule Bipp, which has undergone numerous changes of ownership. As part of this rule, the village in 1413 came under the joint management of Berne and Solothurn. After the division of Buchsgaus Walliswil came in Niederbipp 1463 under the sole sovereignty of Bern and the bailiwick Bipp been assigned.
After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Walliswil belonged in Niederbipp during the Helvetic Republic to the district from 1803 to the cheeks and upper cheeks Office, which received the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. Today, the village is working closely in the social, educational and socio-political area with the neighboring communities together; Community affairs are managed in part by Wangen an der Aare.
