Wallstawe

Wallstawe is a municipality in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

The place Wallstawe is about eleven kilometers southwest of Salzwedel in a straight line.

History

Until 1692 Wallstawe was a lüneburgische exclave in the Electorate of Brandenburg. Only by the treaty of Wallstawe the place fell to Brandenburg. Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Wallstawe decided ( 19 November 2008 ), Ellenberg and Gieseritz ( 18 November 2008 ) that their communities are dissolved and merged into a new community with the name Wallstawe ( 20 November 2008 ). This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 July 2009.
