Wally Pfister

Walter " Wally " Pfister ( born July 8, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American cinematographer.

Life

Wally Pfister was primarily known for film projects under director Christopher Nolan. For four of the resulting co-operation in this movies (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Prestige - The Master of Magic and Inception ), he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography and won the prize in 2011 for Inception. Their first film together was Memento from the year 2000. Pfister is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.

Pfister began his career in the film business as a simple camera man in the late 1980s. In 1990, he was active on several occasions as chief cameraman of the second unit, followed in 1991 with Unborn - Child of Satan, his first assignment as an independent cameraman. By the end of the 1990s he worked mainly on several direct-to- video productions and television films.

In the spring of 2013, Pfister turned Transcendence with his debut film as a director. The sci-fi film is scheduled for release in April 2014.

Wally Pfister is married to Anna Julien since 1992, their daughter, Claire Julien is an actress.
