Walt Faulkner

Walt Faulkner ( born February 16, 1920 in Tell, Texas, † April 22, 1956 on the West Coast Speedway, California ) was an American race car driver.

Career

Walt Faulkner was in the 1950s regularly in the AAA National Series and in NASCAR at the start. In 1950 he was the first rookie who was able to pull the pole position in the 500 miles of Indianapolis.

Since the 500 miles of Indianapolis belonged from 1950 to 1960 the world championship of Formula 1, Faulkner also took part in five World Cup races. In 1955 he finished fifth, the cockpit with Bill Homeier informed ( driver change at that time were allowed) and scored a championship point.

Walt Faulkner was killed in April 1956 during a USAC stock car race in California.
