Walter Althammer

Walter Althammer ( born March 12, 1928 in Augsburg ) is a German jurist and politician ( CSU).

Life and career

Althammer was born as the son of Police Master Builder Peter Althammer. After attending school in Augsburg he took in 1945 for a short time as an infantry soldier in the Second World War part and was taken prisoner. He then attended the boarding school of the Marist Brothers in Mindelheim, where he Abitur 1948. He took in 1949 on a study of law and political science at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich and at the School of Political Science and worked alongside their studies as construction workers and roofers. After the first legal state exam in 1952 Althammer completed a legal internship. In 1954, he was with the work, the concept of parties during the administrative process to the Dr. jur. doctorate, and then attended the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. In 1955 he was a research assistant to Theodor Maunz and 1956, he finished his training with the second legal state examination.

Althammer was 1956/57, worked as a lawyer, worked from 1957 to 1961 as a director at the city council of Augsburg and was next employed as a teacher at the Bavarian School of Administration. In 1961 he was appointed senior executive officer and subsequently appointed as a Director to the Government Bavarian Ministry of Education and Culture. Since 1972, he worked as a lawyer again. Until 1984 he was a Director of Deutsche Bank balance to the Deputy Chairman, he aufrückte 1985, becoming Chairman from 1991 to 1993.

Althammer was president of the Southeast Europe Association in Munich since 1965 and was elected in 2000 to the honorary chairman. He is a member of the Catholic Student Association K.St.V. Ludovicia Augsburg. In 1983 he was after 25 years of marriage, emerged from the three children, divorced and now lives in King Winter.

Party

Althammer occurred in 1952, the CSU and the Junge Union (JU ) and was from 1955 to 1961 Chairman of the JU district association Augsburg. From 1978 to 1986 he was Vice Chairman of the CSU near Hanns Seidel Foundation.

Member of Parliament

Althammer 1961 was first elected to the German Bundestag and represented as a direct candidate there is always the constituency Augsburg -Land. of 5 October 1967, he was there Chairman of the Audit Committee until the end of the parliamentary term in 1969. From 1976 to 1980 he was chairman of the Committee for eavesdropping case ostrich. From 1980 to 1982 he headed the subcommittee Foreign cultural policy of the Foreign Affairs Committee. From 1976 to 1980 and from 1982 to 1984 he was deputy chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, while vice chairman of the CSU group in the Bundestag. On April 14, 1985, he resigned his seat in parliament. As a parliamentarian, he engaged primarily as a spokesman for his group in the Budget Committee of the Bundestag.
