Walter Baseggio

Walter Baseggio ( born August 19, 1978 in Clabecq ) is a Belgian football player, he plays on the position of attacking midfielder.

Career

The Italian- Belgian dual citizen began his career in 1996 at the Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht where he played a total of 246 games and scored 42 goals. During this time he was also able to celebrate three league titles, and many times qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

He was also appointed to the Belgian national football team through his strong performances for Anderlecht. He made his debut on 27 March 1999 in the match against Bulgaria. His only international goal he scored on 28 February 2001 in the qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup 2002 against San Marino. Baseggio had on 9 February 2005 against Egypt 's last mission for the national team.

During the winter break of the season 2005/ 06 Baseggio moved to Treviso FBC 1993 in the Italian Serie A, where in 15 games he scored a goal. At the end of the season Treviso finished last and thus rose from the B series. Baseggio moved during the winter break of the season following back to RSC Anderlecht in January 2008 and played for the Belgian first division club Excelsior Mouscron. In July 2009, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer Baseggio. By the end of the season 2008/ 09 he had completed a total of 297 games in the First Division and scored 48 goals in the process.

In February 2010, he was so far recovered from the illness that he received no radiation. Only four months later, it was announced that he was facing a return to professional football and had taken up contract negotiations for the 2010/11 season with Zweitdivisionär AFC Tubize from his hometown Tubize.
