Walter Bechtold

Walter Bechtold ( born July 25, 1947) is a former German football player.

Career

From SV low - Wöllstadt came Walter Bechtold 1962 in the youth department of Eintracht Frankfurt. His technical skills in conjunction with a strong shot power led the offensive talent in 1965 in the DFB youth. The first use in the youth national team had Bechtold on March 21 in Oberhausen against Hungary, where he contributed to the consolation goal in the 1-2 defeat. In April, he was also in the UEFA youth tournament in the DFB team - with the players Norbert Nigbur, Hans -Hubert Vogts, Egon Köhnen, Karl -Heinz Kamp, Ludwig Bruendl - in the matches against Luxembourg, Greece and Czechoslovakia.

His professional career began Bechtold 1965 at Eintracht Frankfurt. The goalscoring midfielder scored in his four years at Eintracht in 74 league games 33 goals, but was never a regular player. In 1969 he moved to local rivals Kickers Offenbach in the Regionalliga. He clocked up 131 Bundesliga appearances in which he scored 46 goals.
