Walter Behrmann
Walter Emmerich Behrmann ( May 22nd, 1882 in Oldenburg, † May 3, 1955 in Berlin) was a German geographer.
Life
During his studies in Göttingen Behrmann 1901 was a member of the Black Castle covenant connection fraternity Germania. He was a professor in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. In 1910, he still had as an assistant at the Geographical Institute in Berlin area cylindrical projection with the standard Latitude 30 ° N and S before ( " Behrmann cylindrical projection "), which is used to this day. 1912/1913 he participated in an expedition to explore German New Guinea (now Papua New Guinea) part. In 1940 he was elected a member of the Scholars Academy Leopoldina.
