Walter Catlett

Walter L. Catlett ( born February 4, 1889 in San Francisco, California, † November 14, 1960 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Catlett began in 1906 his acting career in the theater and was soon a successful vaudeville star. In the meantime, he also acted in operas. His first film role in 1924 in the romantic comedy directed by Albert Parke Second Youth as John McNab on the side of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. About 150 film and television appearances followed until 1957, where he appeared in comedic roles primarily. Catlett was known among other things as a drunken poet Morrow, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) and in leopard Up Baby (1938 ) as vertrottelter chief of police who detained half the cast in the meantime. Catlett also came as original speaker of the Right Honourable John ( Fellow foul the Fox ) in the 1940 film version of Pinocchio published literature used.

On November 14, 1960 Catlett died of a heart attack. He was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. He was married with both Ruth Verney and with Zanetta Watrous. His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is at the height of 1713 Vine Street.
