Walter Diggelmann

Walter Diggelmann ( born August 11, 1915 in Zurich, † March 5, 1999 in Guntalingen ) was a Swiss racing driver.

Walter Diggelmann was a professional racing car driver 1939 until 1953. He was a strong all-rounder, drove successful road race and was an excellent climber, but also in Six Days, and as stayer active. He achieved his first great success even as an amateur in 1938, when he won the Giro del Mendrisio. In 1940 he won the race Bern- Geneva, 1941 and 1942 in the Championship of Zurich and in 1943 at the Tour des Trois -Lacs.

Diggelmann enter multiple stage wins in the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie. At the Tour de France in 1952, he won the 9th stage.

1945 and 1950 Diggelmann was Swiss champion stayer. He competed in six six-day race, two of which he won jointly with Hugo Koblet, 1948 in Chicago and 1949 in New York.
