Walter Dix ( born January 31, 1986 in Coral Springs ) is an American sprinter.

In 2005 he established the U.S. junior record in the 100 - meter dash with 10.06 s. In the NCAA Championships, he won the 100m in 2005, 2006 in the indoor and outdoor 200 m, 2007 m and 2008 100 and 200 200 m.

In 2007 he was at the U.S. Championships over 100m third party with the elimination fights ( Trials ) 2008 for the Olympic Games in Beijing, he won the 200m and was second over 100 meters. In Beijing, he won the bronze medal over 100 meters with a time of 9.91 s also about 200 m with 19.98 s Dix took bronze. His personal best is 9.88 s, established on August 8, 2010 in Lucerne.

At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu Dix won the silver medal over 100 meters. After an outstanding final sprint he overtook still Kim Collins, but had to concede defeat Jamaican Yohan Blake with the s 10.08. Also about 200 m he won silver, this time behind Usain Bolt. In 2012 he moved to California to train under John Smith. On April 22, 2012 Dix then ran for the first time 9.85 s, the time is, however, not recognized as Best Performance due to high tail wind. At the U.S. Trials for the Olympic Games in London he was injured in the 100 -meter final and had to prematurely end his season after that.

Only 1 June 2013 he was in Eugene with 20.16 s his comeback. At the U.S. Championships, he failed to qualify for the World Championships in Moscow. On September 8, he ran with his win in Rieti for the first time after his injury under 10 seconds.

Walter Dix is 1,75 m tall and weighs 86 kg. He is enrolled at Florida State University.
