Walter Elliott (sound editor)

Walter Elliott ( born November 19, 1903 in Des Moines, Iowa, † 1984 in Carrollton, Texas) was an American engineer, who in 1964 won the first ever Oscar for best sound effects.

Life

Elliott began his career as a sound engineer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1933 the movie King Kong and the white woman and worked until 1963 in the production of over twenty films.

At the Academy Awards in 1964 Elliott won the first ever Oscar for best sound effects in the film It's a Mad, totally mad world (1963 ) by Stanley Kramer with Spencer Tracy, Sid Caesar and Edie Adams. The film was also the last film on which he worked as a sound engineer.
