Walter F. Tichy

Walter F. Tichy ( born April 22, 1952 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a member of the collegial leadership of the Institute for Program Structures and Data Organization (IPD ). The software development community he is mainly known as the first developer of the Revision Control System ( RCS ) is known.

Career and research

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science at the Technical University of Munich (1974 ) graduated from Tichy a Master's program at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (1976 ) and received his doctorate there in 1980 in the natural sciences.

His current research projects focus on experimental methods of computer science and software engineering, software architecture and model research, software configuration management, cluster computing, compilers and programming environments for parallel computers and optical-electronic compounds.
