Walter Feist

Walter Feist (* 1907, † after 1977 ) is a former German luger. He is one of the most successful representative of his sport in the early days of organized sports practice, whose career stretched from the late 1920s until the late 1950s.

Walter Feist from Flin won for the first time in 1927 in Schierke with his partner Richard Feist in doubles, the German Championship. The following year, the double in Schreiberhau won silver behind Herbert Elger and Wilhelm Adolf their first medal at the European Championships. In 1929 he won with Richard Feist in Semmering his first continental title in doubles. Also nationally won the double in Oybin the title, he also won it in the individual competition. The individual titles won Feist again in 1932 in Bad Tolz, 1933 Schreiberhau in a double with Richard Feist. In Ilmenau he won with his new partner Walter Kluge 1934 as well as 1935 in Krynica the title in the doubles competitions of the European Championships. In 1937, the duo Oslo was beaten to his compatriots Martin Tietze and Kurt Weidner and won silver in national Oybin contrast gold. 1938 in Salzburg and in 1939 in Liberec won Feist / Kluge once the gold medals. The further career was interrupted by the Second World War.

After the war, Feist from the 1950s in the GDR continued and was starting for Chemistry in 1951 Piesteritz first East German champion in singles. He then moved to SV steel Ilse castle and won further titles in 1953, 1954 and 1958. In doubles he won the title in 1958 with Udo Karsten, in the Mixed Competition in 1953 Feist Thea. He was also runner-up in doubles in 1954 and with Friedel - Kinzel Tietze in Mixed, 1955 in singles. 1955 Total German Championships were once again held in which Feist in singles and with Hermann Ohlendorf in double won the title.
