Walter Grimshaw

Walter Grimshaw ( born March 12, 1832 † December 27, 1890 ) was a composer of chess problems from Yorkshire, UK, in 1854 won the first tournament in solving chess problems.

The Grimshaw

His name is still a household name thanks to the eponymous intersection combination: two black figures langschrittige be adjusted ( mutually ) in the intersection of their lines of action. The Grimshaw differs from Nowotny fact that the adjustment is triggered without sacrifice in the intersection of the cover lines.

The grimshaw - typical features are second ... Te6 or 2 ... Be6 (the tower adjusted at the intersection of the line of the rotor e6 c8 after f5, the runners moved in the same intersection of the line of the tower to e5 ). As an extra, critical steering the black bishop is presented in the first train, via the dot e6 for later adjustment there.
