Walter Günther

Walter Günther ( * November 18, 1915, † March 1989) was a German football player.

Clubs

Günther played at the Duisburg TSV in 1899 and in 1938 from the merger created with the Duisburg TV 1848 TuS Duisburg 48 /99. After the war he moved to Duisburg game club. The fast man on the left wing played in Duisburg with TSV 1899 as well as the merger Club 48/99 years in the Gauliga Lower Rhine. In rounds 1936/37 and 1941/42, he celebrated each winning the runner-up. As KSG Duisburg in the 1943/44 season succeeded the championship win and thus the way into the final round of the German soccer championship 1944. During the victorious 2-1 in final match on May 7, 1944 in Duisburg against FC Schalke 04 Günther stormed on the left wing of the KSG. After the Second World War, he was still in the elf of the Duisburg game club that reached promotion to the Oberliga West in the round 1948/49.

Federal Cup and German national football team

Günther came 1935-1937 four times in the German national team to use. Here he succeeded in two goals. Coach Otto Reich mink tested in August 1935 in the Sports School Duisburg- Wedau in a two -week course 60 candidates for the 1936 Summer Olympic Games in Berlin. In this time frame, a double round of the national team was conducted. With the fourth betting on January 31, 1937 in Dusseldorf against the Netherlands ended the national career of Walter Günther. In the season 1936/37, the left winger stormed from Duisburg TSV 1899 in the Games of the Reich Federation Cup in Gauauswahl from the Lower Rhine. After successes against the Nordmark, central Germany and the 4-3 semi-final victory achieved against Brandenburg- doing Günther two goals, he also belonged to the winning team in the finals on February 27, 1937 in Berlin 2-1 goals against Saxony. 1938 and 1941 he played more games for the Lower Rhine to the German Cup.
