Walter Hempel ( born August 12, 1887 in Leipzig, † December 5, 1939 ) was a German football player and national team.

The defender, who aground for FC Sportfreunde Leipzig, completed from 1908 to 1912 a total of eleven games for the national team. He belonged to the first German national football team, which played in 1908 against Switzerland.
