Walter Kielholz

Bruno Walter Keel Wood ( born February 25, 1951 in Zurich ) is a Swiss insurance and bank managers. He is Chairman of Swiss Re and a Director of the Credit Suisse Group.

Career

Walter Kiel wood finished in 1976 a degree in business administration at the University of St. Gallen with a master's in finance and accounting.

He was from 1976 to 1986 worked for the reinsurance company General Reinsurance Corporation, both in Zurich as well as abroad. In addition, he worked together with his wife, also a gallery. In 1986, he joined Schweizerische Kreditanstalt ( today Credit Suisse) where he worked as an account executive for a large insurance companies. The insurance company Swiss Re was founded in 1989 to his next career station. Since 1993 he is a member of management, these reinsurance company and served there from 1997 to 2002 as Chief Executive Officer. Since 1998 he is member of the Board of Directors of Swiss Re from 2003 to 2009, he was Vice President and since 2009 its president.

At Credit Suisse 1999 he became a member of the Board of Directors and was its president from 2003 to 2009. Since 2009 he is a regular member of the Board.

Walter Kiel wood is considered to be pulling the strings in the Zurich financial economy and the economic liberals in Zurich. Its network extends into the cultural areas of the city, where he has been the President the Zurich Art Society, and as a former President and now an ordinary member of the Foundation Board of Avenir Suisse far beyond the city limits. After the run of Kiel Wooden financial corporations had suffered heavy losses during the financial crisis starting in 2007, his position has been questioned.

  • Walter Kielholz is a member of the Foundation Board of the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies, which supports the organization of the St. Gallen Symposium. At this he was already involved as a member of the International Students' Committee as a student.
