Walter Leiser

Walter Leiser ( born May 4, 1931) is a former Swiss rowers, who as helmsman won the Olympic silver medal in the coxed four in 1952.

Walter Leiser launched for the RC Thalwil. Together with Enrico Bianchi, Karl Weidmann, Émile dining and Heinrich Scheller he won the Swiss four at the Olympic Rowing Regatta 1952 in Meilahti, a district of Helsinki, his heat, but lost in the semifinals to the Czechoslovak boat. In the repechage, the Swiss came to the Italian boot, but sat in the only European champion last year. The Swiss won by just over three seconds ahead and moved into the finals. There, the Czechoslovaks to demonstrate superiority or three seconds behind them, the Swiss won the battle for silver against the boat from the United States.

The following year, the Czechoslovaks also won at the European Championships in Copenhagen, after the Soviet boat won the Swiss the bronze medal. 1954 changed Bianchi, Weidmann, dining and Scheller in the coxless four. Leiser joined with a new four- to Hansrüdi Scheller at the European Championship 1954 in Amsterdam, reached there but not the finals.
