Walter Prager

Walter Prager ( born April 2, 1910 in Davos, † 1984) was a Swiss ski racer.

Prague was founded in 1931 at the World Ski Championships in Mürren the first downhill world champion in the history of skiing. He repeated two years later at the World Championships in 1933 in Innsbruck this success. Also in 1933, he became a Swiss ski champions in the combination of cross-country skiing / ski jumping.

After his playing career - which he finished as a member of the Ski Club Arosa - Prague 1936, became head of the ski school in Stoos Ski Trainer and later in the United States. He led numerous athletes to national and international success, including Ralph Miller and Chiharu Igaya. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 in St. Moritz, he was coach of the U.S. Olympic ski team. In 1957 he retired finally back from skiing.
