Walter Steinbauer

Walter Steinbauer ( born January 20, 1945 in Dissen am Teutoburger Wald; † 28 May 1991) was a German bobsledder. In 1972, he won an Olympic bronze medal in the four-man event.

Walter Steinbauer launched for the SV Ohlstadt and was brakeman with Wolfgang Zimmerer. In 1968 he won his first German championship with Wolfgang Zimmerer, Peter and Stefan Utzschneider Gaisreiter. 1969 won the Bob in the same occupation at the World Championships in Lake Placid for the title. In 1970, the four Ohlstädter European champions at the World Cup 1970 Gaisreiter fell out due to injury and was replaced by Pepi Bader, Bob won the silver medal. 1971 won the Bob Silver at the European Championships and bronze at the World Championships. After the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Sapporo in 1972 followed in 1973 also bronze at the World Championships. 1975 Steinbauer won his second league titles, this time as a brakeman by Klaus hot.
