Waltraud Kretzschmar

Waltraud Kretzschmar ( born 1 February 1948 in Lehnin; native Hermann) is a former German handball player.

She played for SC Leipzig. With the East German national team, for which they scored a total of 727 goals in 217 international matches, she won the silver and at the Olympic Games in 1980 the bronze medal at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. At the World Championships, she won with her team three times, namely in 1971, 1975 and 1978, the title. It was 1976 and 1979 awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1980 silver.

She is with her ​​then- coach Peter Kretzschmar, the field handball world champion from 1963, is married and has two children with him, the handball player Stefan Kretzschmar and a daughter.
