Waltzes from Vienna is an English film director Alfred Hitchcock in 1934 based on the eponymous play by Guy Bolton. It is about the composers Johann Strauss (father) and son. The film has not yet been synchronized German; its title means " Waltz from Vienna ."

Action

The film is by Johann Strauss the younger, who is from his father, Johann Strauss the elder, forced to work in a bakery, although he would much rather make music. He falls in love with Resi. Strauss is asked by rich baroness to compose her a waltz. He composed " On the Beautiful Blue Danube", although Resi becomes increasingly jealous.

Background

  • The focus of the film is the composer Strauss family. It was the first sound film, the ' deals with the life of the bunch, with the film stylistically still largely based on silent film.
  • This was based on the English theater comedy " Waltzes from Vienna ", which was played over two years in London.
  • Hitchcock directed Waltzes from Vienna after the contract with British International Pictures and broke shortly after little successful years before with The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), his most successful British period began.
  • Hitchcock himself was not convinced of this film: "This was a musical without music Quite cheap, it had nothing to do with my other work.. . "
