Wan Gang

Wan Gang ( born August 1, 1952 in Shanghai) is a Chinese politician and automotive engineering. In April 2007 he was appointed Minister of Science and Technology of the People 's Republic of China.

Career

Wan Gang has studied Experimental Mechanics at Tongji University in Shanghai, where he worked as a lecturer in mathematics and mechanics since 1981. 1985 he moved to Germany to study at the Clausthal University of drive technology. In 1990 he received his doctorate. From 1991, he worked at Audi in senior positions in research and development, until he decided in 2000 to return to China. There he built at Tongji University, a research institute for the development of hydrogen technology and electric vehicles. From July 2004 to August 2007, he was President of Tongji University.

Political activity

Wan Gang is a member and Vice Chairman of the Zhi Gong Party. He has 35 years of first minister in China, a member of a block party and not the Communist Party.

Objectives

Wan hopes in 2012 to produce 10,000 vehicles a year in Shanghai with hydrogen propulsion, which are suitable for public transport as well as for home users.

Honors in Germany

In August 2005, he was honored by the then Prime Minister Christian Wulff with the Lower Saxony Order of Merit. In October 2008 he received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin.
