Wana (Pakistan)

Wana ( Pashto: واڼا ) (also: Wana ) is the main city and administrative center of South Waziristan in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA ).

Location

Wana is 17 km away on the eastern edge of a river valley of the Afghan- Pakistan border. In the east, north and west of the town by three mountain chains is limited, reach the heights 4500-6500 m.

Infrastructure

The town has an airport with a runway of 1 km in length.

Population

The population of the city in 2009 was at 1,980 inhabitants. The population in Wana consists of Pashtuns, principally from the subset of the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe in. Other population groups in the city include members of the Mahsud, Bhittani, Kuchi and Burki tribes from around Wana. Between these populations and the Afghan Pashtuns exist close cultural and Kinship.
