Wand'rin' Star

( I Was Born Under a) Wand'rin 'Star is an American pop song, the Alan J. Lerner ( lyrics ) and Frederick Loewe ( music) In 1951, written for the stage musical Paint Your Wagon. The song was a number 1 hit in the interpretation of the U.S. actor Lee Marvin in the UK. He was for three weeks in March 1970 on the top spot and held for nine weeks in the Top Ten. On different covers, there are also the spellings Wand'rin Star and Wandrin 'Star.

As was the musical in 1969 filmed (English release title Paint Your Wagon ), Lee Marvin took over the role of prospector Ben Rumson. Although Marvin was not a singer, he sang all of his songs in the film, since it was the thought strange to mimic the voice of another person. Arranged by Nelson Riddle Wand'rin 'Star spent three weeks at the top of the charts in the UK and referred the Beatles Let It Be in second place. It is known the song mainly because of the bass voice of Marvin.

Marvin has never again released a single, so it is called a one- hit wonder. A German version of the song sung by the actor and voice actor Friedrich Schütter under the title With the wind, I must weiterzieh'n on the single Columbia 1C - in 2000 was covered by actor Manfred Krug (Album sleep disorder ). Instrumental versions were played by different orchestras such as Raymond Lefèvre plays on the album Raymond Lefevre film music. A parody version presented in 1981 the German comedian Otto Waalkes as part of its program so a gasoline! .
