Wang Yan (athlete)

Wang Yan ( May 3, 1971 in Liaoning Province ) is a retired Chinese race walker.

Wang introduced in 1986 two world records in track Go to: About 5000 meters she needed 21:33,8 min and about 3000 meters 12:39,1 min. At 14 years and 310 days, she was the youngest track and field world record holder of all time.

In the 10 km road walk, she won at the 1996 Olympic Games bronze in 42:19 minutes behind the Russian Elena Nikolaeva in 41:49 min and the Italian Elisabetta Perrone in 42:12 min.

At the World Athletics Championships in 1999 for the first time, the distance of 20 km was discharged. Wang was in goal with 1:30:52 hours two seconds behind her teammate Liu Hongyu and won silver.

At a height of 1.68 m her competition weight was 50 kg.
