Wang Yi (politician)

Wang Yi (Chinese王毅, Pinyin Wang Yi, * October 19, 1953 in Beijing) is Chinese Foreign Minister since March 2013.

Life

After leaving school in 1969 he worked for eight years in the Army. 1977 to 1982 he studied Japanese at the 2nd Beijing Foreign Language High School and received his Master degree in Economics. Then he made in the State Department career, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, 2004 Ambassador to Japan in 2001, from 2008 he headed the Office for Taiwan Affairs. In 2013 he was succeeded as Foreign Minister Yang Jiechis.
