Waren Town Hall

The New Town Hall of goods was inaugurated in 1862. It is located in the center of goods at the market place near the St. Mary's Church.

Chronicle

Originally, the city was in the range of the built 1273 St. George Church. Since 1292 goods as " civitas " ( city rights ) and from 1331 was designated as " oppidum " (smaller city).

At the Old Market - today: Alter Markt 14 - was located since the early 15th century the first city hall. The Old Town Hall was a two-storey brick building with arches at the east gable, which served as a courtroom.

A little later, the New Town, which was united with the old town was built about 1325. In the middle of the Neuer Markt, which now assumed the central position, the second Town Hall was built.

1699, after the last town fire, the city had to be rebuilt virtually from scratch.

The third, three-story " New Town Hall " was built from 1791 to 1797 in the historic style of the Tudor Gothic style. The corners of the plaster construction were accentuated by slender turrets like struts. The surrounding battlements completes the hipped roof and is interrupted at the sides by two more Fialtürmchen. An open arcade is located on the right side.

1857, a significant expansion of the town hall. When the city was bombarded in 1920 during the Kapp Putsch, the town hall was made. The bullet at the back of the building is still preserved.

The New Town Hall was renovated around 1997 as part of the general urban renewal. The city government is now on the western edge of the old town.
