Warez scene

Under The Scene is a computer subculture understood, which has set itself, the primary goal to spread music, movies and computer games within their own networks, usually even before their official release. In German-speaking countries is also often called " The Scene" used. The scene members call themselves the most " scener ". The scene has its own structures, labels and rules and is divided into several, mostly internationally distributed Releasegroups. The groups themselves are often dedicated to the publication and dissemination of specific media, such as DVD -Scene, MP3 Scene etc. They usually meet in anonymous and encrypted IRC and other chat channels, where they are about the approach of the individual exchange releases.

The scene is divided into three main scenes: The Legit scene, STR -Scene and the Str0 -scene. These scenes include Releasegroups and traders. The release groups are responsible for the first distribution of each software, movies and music, and create these usually before their first publication ( collectively referred to as Warez ). Traders, however, have focused on the dissemination of data. Many traders move the Warez between the scenes so that the same content is available in all Subscenes. As a final instance of the distribution shall file sharing, the file sharers are not considered part of the scene. The file sharing scene is divided into groups ( BitTorrent, leechers, OneClick ( WebWarez ), FXP boards ).

The first distribution of Warez happens on the sites or dumps. Once a Release Group has created its release, it is distributed to the sites. Trader postpone the releases to the sites on which does not yet exist the release. Within a few minutes, the release has spread to almost all sites. The number of sites of the scene is not known.

The FBI, and the German authorities monitor the activities of the scene. The FBI referred to on their website " The Scene " as a "highly organized " and " syndicate " as part of their Cyber Investigations Division, summarized under the project name "Operation Buccaneer ".

Descendants of the scene is also the demo scene, which later split from the ideals of the crackers to spread their skills and knowledge in creative, digital artworks ( demos). Also they call themselves today " sceners ".

History

The beginnings of the scene goes back to the 80s, when the PC found its way into private households. The resulting demand for software, especially after computer games, led to the first loner began to crack the built-in copy protection from media. This results in a short time later developed groups that operated the cracking and distributing copies as a competition with each other. The newly created scene exchanged in private BBS ( Bulletin Board System ) from their knowledge and above all the copies. The first BBS there were in the United States, while similar systems are gradually spreading rapidly in Australia and Europe. The BBS have not exchanged in those days their phone numbers in more or a few private channels, from where could dial interested via a modem. Usually hoarded BBS several megabytes of copies. The largest SMO presented several hundred megabytes of data and multiple phone lines for dial-in, which were connected to those times with high costs. Its objects of exchange usually included programs or computer games whose copy was cracked before the scene with internal distribution. The Coder decorated the cracked software from their groups before spreading with so-called Cracktros whose file size was usually 4-64 kilobytes. The Cracktros were regarded as a kind of signature for the individual groups and ensured that the respective Group earned the respect of the release.

From art to tinker a flashy cracktro before each release, the only legal operating demoscene has arisen, which only made it his goal to create digital art.
