Warin Chamrap District

Amphoe Warin Chamrap ( Thai: อำเภอ วารินชำราบ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the west of the province of Ubon Ratchathani. The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mueang, the Ubon Ratchathani, Sawang Wirawong, Na Yia, Det Udom and Samrong of Ubon Ratchathani province, as well as Amphoe Kanthararom the province of Sisaket.

The most important water resource of the district is Maenam Mun.

History

The district was in 1913 by Thaksin Ubon ( ทักษิณ อุบล ) renamed Warin Chamrap.

Education

The University of Ubon Ratchathani is located in the district of Warin Chamrap.

Famous monasteries

  • Wat Pah Nanachat - Buddhist Forest Monastery ( Wat ) of the Thai forest tradition north of the Tambon Bung Wai in a forest.
  • Wat Nong Pah Phong - Buddhist forest monastery of the great and influential monk Ajahn Chah.

Administrative units

Amphoe Warin Chamrap is divided into 16 communes ( tambon), which in turn are divided into 185 villages ( Muban ).

There are three towns in the County:

  • Warin Chamrap has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of the whole tambon Warin Chamrap,
  • Huai Kha Yung has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon), it consists of parts of the tambon Huai Kha Yung.

There are also 15 administrative organizations ( " Tambon Administrative Organizations" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).

Note: the missing geocodes refer to the Tambon, from which today Amphoe Samrong and Sawang Wirawong exist.
