Warka

Warka is a town in Poland, in the Masovian Voivodeship. It belongs to the powiat Grójecki and is the seat of the homonymous urban and rural community. It lies on the River Pilicą.

History

For the first time we mentioned the city in the 13th century. City received city rights 1302-1321. From 1795 the town belonged to Prussia and was from 1807 to 1815 part of the Duchy of Warsaw. Then it belonged to the Kingdom of Poland.

During World War II, the city was almost completely destroyed.

Economy

The town has a brewery Warka and a wine region.
