Warner Baxter

Warner Baxter ( born March 29, 1889 in Columbus, Ohio; † May 7, 1951 in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American actor. He won the 1930 Oscar for best actor.

Life

Baxter was an only child with his widowed mother in 1898 to San Francisco, survived the earthquake of 1906. However, you've lost all their belongings. In 1910, he joined a theater group and played vaudeville. The path led him to New York City, where he had his first success on Broadway. In the early 1920s he was able to gain a foothold in the film industry, where he was temporarily at FBO under contract. In 1928 he had his greatest success with the Western In Old Arizona. For his role of the Cisco Kid in this early sound film in 1930, he won the Oscar. This award and its popularity with the public increased its market value continuously. Mid-1930s, he was considered one of the highest-earning actors in Hollywood.

In the early 1940s after health problems fell his star. After a nervous breakdown, and psychiatric hospitalization and severe arthritis, he played mostly only in films that could be turned quickly with little effort. He died in 1951 of pneumonia.
