Warren County (Georgia)

The Warren County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Warrenton.

Geography

The County is located in the central Northeast Georgia, is about 50 km from the border of South Carolina and has an area of 743 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: McDuffie County, Jefferson County, Glascock County, Hancock County, Taliaferro County and Wilkes County.

History

Warren County was formed on December 19, 1793 20 County of Georgia from parts of Columbia County, the Burke County, Richmond County and Wilkes County. It was named, as well as the city Warrenton, after General Joseph Warren, a hero in the Revolutionary War, killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
