Warren County (Kentucky)

Warren County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bowling Green.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Kentucky, is located in the south about 25 km from the state of Tennessee and has an area of 1419 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Butler County, Edmonson County, Barren County, Allen County, Simpson County and Logan County.

History

Warren County was formed on December 14, 1796 from parts of Logan County. It was named after General Joseph Warren, who fell at the battle of Bunker Hill.

Historical buildings

At Western Kentucky University:

In Bowling Green, the historic Health Buildings -Gymnasium is located (also known as Helm Library). The building is located on Normal Drive, on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Built in 1930 the school building was added as a historical monument with the number 79,001,034 on 18 December 1979 by the National Register of Historic Places.

Also on campus you will find the historic Kentucky Building (NRHP ID 79001038 ). It was built around 1930 and is located at the Russellville Road. The architect was Brinton B. Davis.

The Van Meter Hall is located on 15th Street, and in 1979 declared a national monument (NRHP ID 79001042 ).

Other:

In Smiths Grove, is the historical relevance Thomas Allen House. The building is located at State Route 31W. Built around 1860, the house was designed by architect Harrison Barner and included as a historical monument with the number 79,003,542 on 18 December 1979 by the National Register of Historic Places.

The Smiths Grove District is located between First Street and Main Street, listed on the NRHP No. 79003512

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 92 522 people in Warren County. Of these, 5,559 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 35,365 households and 23,411 families. The population density was 66 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 86.98 percent White, 8.58 percent African American, 0.24 percent Native American, 1.35 percent Asian, 0.08 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.33 percent from other races groups; 1.45 percent were descended from two or more races. 2.67 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 35,365 households out of which 31.4 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.4 percent were married couples living together, 11.2 percent were single mothers, 33.8 percent were non-families, 26.1 percent of all households and 8.3 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.97.

Based on the county the population was spread from 23.1 percent population under 18 years, 16.2 percent between 18 and 24 years, 29.1 percent between 25 and 44 years, 21.1 percent between 45 and 64 years and 10.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females aged 18 years old or over, there were 93.0 men statistically.

The median income for a household was $ 36,151, and the median family income was $ 45,142. Males have a median income of $ 32,063, women $ 22,777. The per capita income was $ 18,847. 10.8 percent of families and 15.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 17.8 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 13.8 percent of those 65 years.
