Warren Low

Warren Low ( born August 12, 1905 in Pittsburgh, † July 27, 1989 in Woodland Hills ) was an American editor.

Life and work

Low worked at the age of 14 years as a bit player in cinema productions and worked until 1924 in various film laboratories. After that he was stationed until 1928 when U.S. Navy in Southeast Asia. After his return he was employed in the cutting department of Warner Bros.. As assistant editor, he worked under Ralph Dawson's line of A Midsummer Night's Dream with and was then hired by William Dieterle to get the cut in several of his films.

In 1942 he was called up for military service. After his return in 1946, Low was hired by Hal B. Wallis and cut a lot of the films produced by him.

In his more than 30 year career he has participated in over 80 movie productions and was nominated four times for an Oscar. In 1989 he was awarded for his life's work the Career Achievement Award from the American Cinema Editors.
