Warren Street tube station

Warren Street is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Camden. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 1, at the junction of Euston Road and Tottenham Court Road ( Warren Street itself is a short side street of the latter ). Here intersect at two levels, the Northern Line and the Victoria Line. In 2011, 15.69 million passengers used the station.

The station consists of four levels. The main hall on the ground floor has two entrances. Three escalators lead to the underlying distribution level, which also serves as a pedestrian underpass. Two escalators lead down to the platforms of the Northern Line on the third level. Two other Escalators leading to the platforms of the Victoria Line on the fourth level. A special feature of the Victoria line is that the trains here in legal relations. The reason lies in the relatively small distance to Euston station where the platforms were built reversed to facilitate the transition to the Northern Line.

On 22 June 1907, the station as part of the Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway opened ( the Charing Cross branch of the Northern Line today). At the beginning it was called Euston Road ( this name can still see on the wall tiles). The renaming was in Warren Street on June 7, 1908. To allow the installation of escalators, were replaced the original station building with a new building. The platforms of the Victoria Line were put into operation on 1 December 1968. During four months of Warren Street was the southern terminus of the line.

Warren Street is one of those stations that target the failed terrorist attacks of 21 July 2005 were; However, the explosive charge of the suicide bomber did not ignite.
