Wasatch Front

As Wasatch Front the settlement area is referred to below the western flank of the Wasatch Range in the U.S. state of Utah. In the strip, extending from Ogden in the north to Salt Lake City to Provo in the south, live more than 80 % of the residents of Utah.

The area includes the two valleys Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley and contains the largest agricultural land in Utah, because fertile alluvial soil along the lake coincide with sufficient water from the mountains.

Infrastructure

The Wasatch Front is developed to its full length by various means of transport. The Interstate Highway 15 crosses the region and binds it to the north and south. The Union Pacific Railroad operates a railway line for freight traffic.

The Utah Transit Authority offers two regional transport systems an excellent U.S. standards public transport. The Front Runner opens up as a regional transport the entire region with a line. The TRAX system offers three lines of public transport in Salt Lake City and the southern Salt Lake Valley to West Jordan and Draper.

The development of public transport in the Wasatch Front was started in 2008 and should last until 2015 ( Frontlines 2015 rail program). The reaction was completed, however, despite falling below the budget in August 2013. To finance the citizens had agreed in a referendum an increase in the sales tax rate by a quarter percentage point in 2006.
