Washboarding

As a gravel track (from the English often borrows washboard gravel) refers to a dirt road, the bumps lying transversely to the direction of travel similar to having a corrugated metal pattern.

Properties

Prerequisite for the formation of the structure are heavy vehicles driving fast enough on a road whose surface layer is loosely piled. A bottom hole on the road caused an intense soil contact with the wheel of the vehicle. In the driving out of the depression the wheel moves as on a ramp up to prepare for a short jump another floor recess. The speed ( greater than 3 km / h), mass, wheel width and density of the loose flooring determine the size and location of the bumps.
