Washington County (Oklahoma)

Washington County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bartlesville.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Oklahoma, bordered to the north Kansas and has an area of 1099 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Montgomery County ( Kansas), Nowata County, Rogers County, Tulsa County, Osage County and Chautauqua County ( Kansas).

History

Washington County was formed in 1897 as an original county of Cherokee country. It was named after George Washington, the first President of the United States.
