Washita County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cordell.

Geography

The County is located in west-central Oklahoma, is about 60 km from Texas and has an area of ​​2613 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Custer County, Caddo County, Kiowa County and Beckham County.

History

Washita County was formed in 1900 as an original county of Cheyenne country. It was named after the Washita River. The County ( Oklahoma Land Run ) was settled by white settlers during the third official land ownership acquisition of 19 April 1892.
