Wassenaar Arrangement

The Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies ( Wassenaar Arrangement on Export engl. The Controls for Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies) is the successor to the COCOM. It was drawn up on 19 December 1995 in Wassenaar (Netherlands) and on 12 May 1996 at Vienna ( Austria ) from 33 founding members signed. Similar to CoCom lists are maintained on arms-related goods. The states decide independently on the approval or rejection of requests for supplies from third countries, but inform the office in Vienna, the other Member States. This is to prevent that rejected requests from other Member States shall be decided positively.

The 40 member countries are: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, United States.

Since January 25, 2012 Mexico is the 41th Member State.
