Watamu

Watamu is a situated on the Indian Ocean Place at the Turtle Bay in Kenya, 30 kilometers south of the town of Malindi.

The marine section of Watamu Marine National Park is the Watamu Marine National Reserve and, together with the 219 km ² large Malindi Marine National Park one of the larger Kenyan biosphere reserves as well as part of a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. The Marine National Park is also known for three major caves.

Upstream of the mangrove similar flooding level of Mida Creek is the island of Iceland Whale, can be observed at the flamingos and numerous migratory birds like plovers, beach runners, Crab Plover, Scharlachspint, Madagaskarspint, terns ( roseate tern, Zügelseeschwalbe ). In the bay of Watamu manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins and turtles are located.

The town itself has about 5000 inhabitants and consists of some hotels and resorts as well as larger private residences of Europeans.
