Wataru Asō

Wataru Asō (Japanese麻 生 渡, Asō Wataru; born May 15, 1939 in Tobata, Fukuoka Prefecture (now a city district of Kitakyushu ) ) was from 1995 to 2011 non-party governor of the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka. From 2005 to 2011 he was also President of the "National Governor Conference".

Asō studied at the Kyoto University and was then an official in the MITI. In the meantime, he worked for the Foreign Office in London, from 1992 he conducted for two years, the Patent Office. In 1995 he made ​​his first successful in the gubernatorial elections of Fukuoka and was confirmed three times since then. Most recently, he sat down at the -unified regional elections of 2007, compared supported by DPJ and SDP Shuji Inatomi significantly with 1.12 million to 666,000 votes through. 2011 Asō retired, his successor Hiroshi Ogawa was elected.
