Wataru Kubo

Wataru Kubo (Japanese久保 亘, Wataru Kubo; born January 15, 1929 in Kagoshima Prefecture, † 24 June 2003) was a Japanese politician.

Career

After completing his studies at the University of Hiroshima in 1952, he worked as a teacher in Kagoshima Prefecture. In 1963 he was elected to the prefectural assembly. In 1974 he was elected a deputy in the House of Lords, 1988 ( later renamed the Social Democratic Party ), Vice - Chairman of the Executive Board of the Socialist Party of Japan. In 1993 he was promoted to General of the Social Democratic Party. In January 1996 he became finance minister in the cabinet of Ryutaro Hashimoto, but he held this position only until November of the same year. 1997 Kubo left due to disagreements with party leader Takako Doi, the Social Democratic Party. In 1998 he was involved in the founding of the Democratic Party of Japan.

In July 2001, Kubo went into retirement. In November of the same year he was awarded the highest decoration of the Japanese state, the Grand Order of the Rising Sun in the band.

Asian Monetary Fund

From Kubo 's proposal comes for its own Asian Monetary Fund (similar to the International Monetary Fund). This he presented during the Asian crisis in 1997, but ran into opposition from the IMF and the United States.
