Watatsumi

Watatsumi or Owatatsumi (Japaneseワタツミ( Kojiki: Watatsumi no ō - kami (绵 津 见〔大〕神,海神); Nihonshoki: Watatsumi no mikoto (少 童 命,海神))) is the triune Kami of the seas and a son of Izanagi and Izanami. Watatsumi means as much as " ruler of the sea" (Karl Florence translated " ( Large ) Meeresbeherrscher " ) and is also part of the name of many other sea - Kami.

Kojiki and Nihon Shoki say that he should have been born in his triune form, when Izanagi after his return from the underworld fell off ( yomi ) ritually washed (see misogi ), while the Kami Uwawatatsumi, Nakawatatsumi and Sokowatatsumi from him. Adored it is, inter alia, in Kiyotaki shrine in Nikko, Taki -no- miya ( a massha of Tosa shrine in Kōchi ) and Sai - Nibukawakami of the shrine in the district of Yoshino, Nara Prefecture.
