Watendlath

The lake is fed by several small streams from the surrounding mountain slopes, but the main tributary is the Bleatarn Gill at the north end of the lake.

At the south end of the lake the Watendlath Beck leaves the lake as the only outlet.

Watendlath is at the end of a road that leads up the mountain from the Derwent Water, and the land owned by the National Trust. The lake and a historic stone bridge in a valley with a particularly prestigious typical for the Lake District gentle slopes make the place into a tourist destination.

The writer Sir Hugh Walpole made Watendlath to home of Judith Paris in his series of Herries Chronicles.
